Three Arrows Capital’s NFT collection sold for almost $11mn💰at auction (June 16)
Three Arrows Capital, a collapsed cryptocurrency hedge fund, sold its digital art collection at Sotheby's for nearly $11 million, setting a new record for NFT sales. Among the 37 artworks, Dmitri Cherniak’s “Ringers #879”, also known as “The Goose,” was sold for $6.2 million. The sale signifies the continuing interest in NFTs, particularly generative art, despite a broader decline in the NFT market. The auction attracted almost 1,000 bids from 17 countries, with over half of the participants under 40.

A person borrowed $14,500 by using two Rolexes as collateral through a blockchain-based system. The watches were held by an escrow company which issued NFTs (non-fungible tokens) representing ownership. The borrower can use these NFTs to secure funds globally at 12% APR, avoiding high-interest local pawnshop loans. If the borrower defaults, the lender can use the NFTs to claim the watches.
